It looks like PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is heading for a sequel, and the same goes for PUBG Mobile, as the dev confirmed they've been working on the two.

Prominent PUBG leakster going by the Twitter handle PlayerIGN posted what looks like a press release by Krafton, which is as close to a confirmation as anything, in spite of Google Translate's broken translation.

"Krafton is in full swing development of its next works utilizing Battleground IP (Intellectual Property Rights). The internal development of the mobile game sequel to back up Battleground Mobile and the authentic sequel to the PC and console multi-platform, which will continue the worldview of Battleground has come to the fore", it reads.

The studio has been concealing the project behind the name ProjectXTRM, which they insisted had nothing to do with PUBG 2, but now it turns out it was merely a misdirection.

So, PUBG's developer will be going all out on the two, ensuring they're cross-platform releases fit for next-gen consoles, mobiles and PCs alike.

We suppose we'll soon find out whether PUBG 2 is on its way, since we're hearing about a potential March 2021 announcement, but it's pretty clear that it's time for a refresh. After all, the days of PUBG hitting 1 million peak players on Steam are but a distant memory now.

It has to be said that Bluehole's misdirection was greatly helped by Brendan Greene's apparent lack of interest for making PUBG 2

As things stand, it looks like Greene will not be involved with PUBG 2, since he relocated to Amsterdam and is working on Prologue, which is neither a shooter nor PUBG 2 .
